The more intel you have, the better. Verdansk is a huge city, and a big part of finding success is scouting out where the major threats are and how to best respond to them. Enter the Spotter Scope, the latest piece of equipment added to Warzone as part of the Season Four Reloaded content offering.

Read on for tips on where to find the Spotter Scope, how it works, and top strategies in using it to push your squad toward victory.

How to Get the Spotter Scope

There are several ways to find the Spotter Scope: on the ground, out of a Supply Box, as a possible reward for completing a Recon Contract, or by taking it from the cold, dead hands of an enemy player. The Spotter Scope must be found within Verdansk, as it is not available as an equipment option when creating loadouts.

It’s not easy to find, so if your initial search among ground items and Supply Box loot comes up empty, opt for a Recon Contract or go hunting in hopes of picking one off a fallen player.

Using the Spotter Scope

Once acquired, the Spotter Scope takes up your tactical equipment slot and can be used an unlimited number of times by pressing, similar to the Heartbeat Sensor. While viewing through the scope, you can toggle between a 1x and 8x zoom and between normal and thermal view.

The best part? There’s no glare when looking through the Spotter Scope, unlike the bright reflection given off by many sniper rifle optics. View to your heart’s content without the worry of giving up your position. Just don’t forget about your immediate surroundings while doing so.

Find ‘em and Mark ‘em

Spot enemies in the distance? Use the Spotter Scope to momentarily mark them for your squadmates. To mark an enemy, center the scope over their position and wait for the red circle to complete. The further away the enemy, the longer it takes to complete the mark, from about one second at close range to three seconds from a distance.

On completion, the enemy will be marked with a red diamond for about five seconds, which your whole squad can see. The diamond will remain longer if you keep the Spotter Scope centered on a player.

Five Tips for Expert Spotting

5. Flank and Spot. Send the player with the Spotter Scope to the nearest vantage point to scan for enemies while the team loots up. When the spotter calls out incoming, approach the marked enemies from a different angle and then attack in force from both sides. Oh, and share that loot.

4. Two Scopes are Better than One. Even if you’ve already got a sniper in the squad, encourage them to take the Spotter Scope anyway. They’ll already be searching for high ground, and it will prevent them from giving up their position.

3. Most Wanted. If you have the Spotter Scope and your squad is geared up, go grab a Most Wanted Contract. Ping enemies attempting the kill and then wipe them out with ease.

2. Switch to Thermal. Having trouble steadying the scope on distant targets? Switch to the thermal setting to up the contrast between the enemy and their environment, assuming they don’t have Cold-Blooded equipped.

1. Set a Trap. In a heavily populated area? Set up somewhere overlooking a Buy Station, a Contract pickup, or toward the middle of the current collapse zone. Mark out incoming enemies and get the drop on them.

Stay Frosty.
